Idea #1 - Obama first idea revolves around government spending. This plan is to use the government to promote jobs both environmental and national. He plans to use 150 billion dollars towards environmental jobs that create/aid parks, nature centers, beaches, and wild life reserves. This idea will aid the environment and people who are unemployed and are seeking jobs. The second part of this plan is to spend 60 billion dollars national jobs. These jobs consist of the reconstruction of highways, bridges, airports, apartment buildings, and banks. Creating over 2 million jobs.
Idea #2 - Another idea Obama proposed was to rely on internal production and trade. This plan focuses on oversea businesses (example: Nike). By bringing those factories to the U.S. and giving the jobs to American people, unemployment will most definitely decrease. But private businesses would rather hire foreign workers, because they accept less pay then the American people. If this was to be changed, a lot of job opportunities can be made to the American people.
Mitt Romney's Ideas
Idea #1 - Romney's first idea is to support private businesses, mainly by reducing their taxes. This will allow them to earn more profit in their organizations, which will lead to hiring more employees. When more employees are hired, the unemployment rates will decrease, and the economy itself will improve due to circulation of spending, by the working class and private business owners.
Idea #2 - Another idea Romney proposed was to open up trade with Latin America. By opening trade with Latin America, American Manufacturing companies can rely less on far distance trade (example: China) and focus more on nearby/internal trade. If the country creates more products, and is in less demand for foreign products, then their will be an increase of wealth and success inside the U.S. This extra amount of wealth can then be used to create more job opportunities and decrease the amount of unemployed citizens.
Third Party Decision
Although our group was not 100% present, the members that did attend class had decided President Obama's ideas are most likely to work. Unlike Romney, President Obama had a more specific approach to his ideas. He also does not rely on the private business sector to give jobs to the American people. He specifically relies on the government, to create jobs. Government money can be recycled through tax and the spending of the economy. Relying on business owners will not necessarily promote jobs. Reducing taxes, will only make them more wealthier; and this does not always result to business owners hiring more workers. What if they would rather save up the money, and improve their own lifestyle. What if they do not need more workers to run their businesses? That is why the group decided that government spending is the key to creating jobs, not the private sector. People want to see immediate changes, not 50/50 chances.
